St Philip's Outdoor Education Program has been judged truly outstanding by educators and Outdoor Education professionals from all over Australia. The focus for the College's expeditions is the spectacular MacDonnell and Chewings Ranges in Central Australia and the Victorian Alps. The Outdoor Education expeditions are cited by many students, past and present, as being the highlight of their time at St Philip's.
As the Outdoor Education programs are integral to the College ethos and curriculum, it is expected for all students to participate. Students must attend school at normal times when they are not out on the program.
Each year features a unique Outdoor Education program and further information can be found below.
Outdoor Education culminates in the Stage 2 SACE (Year 12) Outdoor and Environmental Education Course. This is a challenging language rich subject that focuses on outdoor activities, as well as environmental issues.
Our Year 12 students also participate in a three-day Advance camp that focusses on team building, goal setting and time management. The camp also develops confidence, self-esteem and strong relationships with College staff, before students head into their final studies.
Prior to each of the camps, parent and student information briefings are held. Detailed written information is also distributed to students early in the school year. All proposed dates for camps are available in our calendar, and are mostly held during Term 2 and 3.

We acknowledge the Arrernte people as the traditional custodians and first educators of Mparntwe. Our school is home to students from nations all around the world. We ‘strive’ to work with and continue learning from First Nations people. We ‘seek’ to be a part of Australia’s reconciliation journey by engaging in truth-telling. We aim to ‘care’ for Country through connection and environmental education. We pay our respects to elders past and present and thank them for their care of Country and sharing of knowledge.
