Performing Arts

St Philip's College offers a vibrant Performing Arts program with an exciting range of productions, including it's highly anticipated annual musical.

With excellent facilities, resources and industry trained staff, the College provides the opportunities to participate in plays, musical performances and more. Highlights on the calendar include the musical, senior play, Music Soiree, and numerous dance nights. Our students are also seen regularly in community events such as the Centralian Eisteddfod

Drama, Dance and Music classes are offered from Years 7 – 12, and all students are encouraged to get involved, be creative, develop their skills and have fun.

Students have the opportunity to develop their talent before presenting lunch-time Music, Drama and Dance performances throughout the year.

We encourage a love of Performing arts by providing our students the opportunity to be on and off the stage.

The College provides the opportunity to learn technical production skills, such as lighting, sound and working backstage in our multi-functional hall.

Private Instrumental Lessons

St Philip’s College provides facilities to private tutors who conduct instrumental lessons for students during and after school hours.

Music tutors are NOT College staff and the music lessons are a private agreement between the parent and music tutor.

Lessons are 30 minutes in length and are invoiced directly by the teacher at their own rate.

New students are accepted each term. The cut-off week is Week 2 in any given term, after that, students will be placed on a waiting list until the next term. An instrumental lesson enrolment form can be submitted electronically.

Performing Arts Festival

In Term 1 each year, the whole College participates in the annual Performing Arts Festival.

The Festival sees each House create a story based on a chosen theme, that incorporates singing, acting, dancing, and live music to impress the judges and earn the highest score possible.

Students choreograph, write, build and rehearse in the weeks leading up to the day with the final performances presented in front of the whole College body. Competition is fierce!

In everything we do, we live the values of Honesty, Engagement, Acceptance, Respect and Trust inspired by our Christian ethos and our place locally and globally.

We acknowledge the Arrernte people as the traditional custodians and first educators of Mparntwe. Our school is home to students from nations all around the world. We ‘strive’ to work with and continue learning from First Nations people. We ‘seek’ to be a part of Australia’s reconciliation journey by engaging in truth-telling. We aim to ‘care’ for Country through connection and environmental education. We pay our respects to elders past and present and thank them for their care of Country and sharing of knowledge.
