Mr John Blaiklock

A man of purpose, action and generosity.

Mr John Blaiklock, Patron of Flynn House and major benefactor to St Philip’s College died in 2005 at the age of ninety-four.

John enjoyed his role as Patron of Flynn House, and visited the College twice yearly even when he was well into his nineties!  He often stated that his association with St Philip’s had given him a whole new interest in life and that he was always most impressed by the confidence and friendliness of the students.

John Blaiklock’s desire to ‘have a go’ and his natural business acumen saw him succeed in business, playing an important part in the development of Australia in the post-war years. He was a people person, generous with his time and finances, never seeking recognition for his generosity.

First visiting in 1998, John’s interest in education and the Outback saw him become a major benefactor to the development of facilities at St Philip’s.  He was a major contributor to The Minnamurra Hall, the Fred McKay Education Centre, the Swag Chapel and entirely funded the construction of the John Blaiklock Wing.

The College is blessed that the friendship with the Blaiklock family continues to this day.
